Last Wednesday girls in my office went for a girly night our. A night of dinner and the cinema. I'm not sure who came up with this brilliant plan, but the invite went out Monday exciting six of us for the night. I looked forward to a night with girls I chat to here or there in the kitchen but had never before had the opportunity to really get to know.
One of the phone carriers in England, Orange, has a deal called Orange Wednesdays that entitle their customers to 2 for 1 cinema tickets and food deals every week. The night worked out perfectly, half of the girls were with Orange so everyone got the night half price. After work we went straight to Pizza Express (its not equivalent to Pizza Hut for those of you at home who aren't familiar with this restaurant, it is a hundred times better!) and had, obviously pizza and wine. Then it was on to the cinema where we picked up or 3D glasses and settled in for the film.
I really enjoyed Alice in Wonderland. Of course being a Burton film it is a bit on the dark side, but I have always been a fan of his. I also liked how even though it was set in the future it incorporated many of the original stories. I won't spend time recapping the film here because its popular and I don't want to bore you more than normal. I enjoyed every minuet of the night. A great mid-week outing. When the movie finished it was straight home to bed as it was still a work night.
I found the 3D impressive, and now I really want to see Avatar. I hear the effects are even better and I think its going to be a film that will be talked about for ages. I think I will really be missing out if I don't see this in the cinema. I also was shocked to see that this Autumn Sky (like Dish Network) is bringing out a 3D box, that means sport, and all TV for that matter, can be watched in 3D from the comfort of your living room. By the time my friends and I have kids there will be no such thing as 2D.... 2D for them will be like black and white TV to my generation. This is my prediction.
