Twilight
I did it! I completed the Twilight Series by Stephanie Meyer. Alright, so I will admit the books quickly turned into a quilty pleasure. Especially the final book, Breaking Dawn, which is seven hundred and some odd pages that I finished in less than two weeks. Once I picked it up, I couldn't put it down. I don't even really think the books are that well written. Honestly, the protagonist Bella is the slowest character ever created. Whenever there is something big to figure out it is obvious to the reader pages before she figures it out, blatent foreshadowing occuring. A bit annoying I think, I got bored waiting for her to catch up with me as to what is going on. The series is never going to be up there with the classics and Harry Potter is without a doubt much better. However, something about the story gripped me and kept me turning the pages. I do understand how the trend became so popular, these books are perfect mix of magic and love for teenage girls and paired with films staring a "hott" lead actor they were bound to be a hit.
I still prefer Charlotte Bronte, Jane Austen and Virginia Woolfe. Give me the classics any day.
