a saturday in the cotswolds

After two horribly busy weeks of my life, I have been getting back into my normal routine of mainly work and the gym. Shamefully my dear blog has been ignored.

The last weekend of my busy weeks was most enjoyable, Tom and I spent it with our friends James and Megan at their cottage in the city Cheltenham in the Cotswolds.

To find out more about the area in England categorized as the Cotswolds check out this site... http://www.the-cotswolds.org/top/english/intro.shtml

Tom and I drove the three or so hours to their home the last Saturday in February, arriving in time for kick off of the first rugby match of the day. After sitting through half of this match Megan and I decided to venture into town for some shopping. A great idea! Not only did this mean I didn't have to endure a full day of watching sport and got to go mainly window shopping, I also had the chance to catch up with Megan who I hadn't seen since my study abroad. That means it had been about two years since I had seen her, far too long.

Cheltenham is a bigger city than I expected. We were going to their cottage, so I was envisioning it to be more the size of a village. The city center holds every shop I could think of to look around in. We spent the afternoon wandering through all of the main high street shops browsing for anything we couldn't live without. I also was hoping to find new black boots as the ones on my feet were very near having a hole in the sole. I did find boots, but didn't decide to purchase them until the next day, and Megan returned with a lovely new cardigan.

That evening we had booked a table at The Royal Well Tavern (http://www.theroyalwelltavern.com/). We booked for nine as unless we wanted a very early meal, it was the only opening. After a drink at a pub near the restaurant we arrived for our meal only to be informed a table wasn't available yet. So we went to the bar to wait. and wait. and wait. It neared ten and there still wasn't a table free. By this point we had only had drinks for the night and were very hungry. All of the food looked delicious, just making the situation worse. We let fifteen minuets pass, then took action. Realising the table of three who each had less than a sip of wine in their glass was our best hope of tables, and that they were going to continue talking probably until the place closed we did what had to be done... we went for a curry.

With full bellies it was back to theirs and into bed for the night.

Love
