Ninja Turtle style

Tom took me on a date Thursday night.  A date to the sewers!

About a month ago he told me he booked us to go on a sewer tour with some people from his work.  I asked, "sewer tour, what is that?"  His reply, "It's name is on the tin."  I sat confused, why would anyone want to tour sewers?  Then I looked it up and realised its a very well rated tour in Brighton that lets you see the old Victorian architecture.  Alright I thought, this could be interesting.

So we arrived last night (a little late I'll admit because I mixed up the peirs) and into the sewers we went. It really didn't smell as bad as I expected.  It was amazing how large the sewers are and to think they dug these out all those years ago. The brickwork was impressive too.  At each new entrance the bricks arched around three layers deep.  In the last area we saw there were tree roots growing down into the sewers,  I found that really cool.  It was like how people grow pretty plants up the sides of their house, only these were growing down into the dark, dank sludgy sewers.

We ended the tour by crawling up out of a man-hole right on the side of a park.  How funny must it look a group of people dressed normally coming up out of the pavement (sidewalk).  Would have been more funny if we had all dressed as ninja turtles!

We didn't see as much as I expected, but it still was pretty cool.  Afterwards we had a drink on the seafront with the other's from Amex (including Tom's boss who is pregnant with twins - only she had a lime and soda) and enjoyed the end of the sunny day.

Love
