The Royal Wedding

Living in England and so close to London I couldn't pass up the opportunity to join the crowds in celebrating this big day.  I was so excited for the wedding and admittedly a little envious.  It is every girls dream to marry a prince, and not only that but Kate's wedding was such a big event its was an actual holiday for an entire country.  Lucky, lucky girl!  It's practically like a fairy tail.

To experience the wedding I went up to London with Tom's Mum and a couple of her friends.  We got there very early, we were outside Buckingham Palace at half nine.  The wedding didn't start until eleven.  We were wanting to get over to the Mall to watch the festivities but the roads to get over there were completely blocked off.  One of the guards recommended we go around the back of Buckingham Palace.  With so much time left, we started walking.

Our route took us past the Goring, the hotel where Kate was staying, and it took ages to get past there so many people were crowding around.

We managed to squish past and kept on our way to Green Park.  Unfortunately, when we got to Green Park it had just reached capacity and closed.  We continued on our way trying to reach the Mall.  After quite a bit more walking we arrived at Trafalger Square, which had also closed.  The only option left was Hyde Park where two screens were showing the ceremony.  We turned around and went back the way we had just came.  When we got back to Green Park it was insane how many people were crowding over the fence trying to see in.  We had to walk in the road there were so many people.

We finally reached Hyde Park and our walking came to an end.  Suddenly there was open green space and you could feel happiness radiating the air.  We reached the screens and I felt like I was at a festival.  Only instead of music, the crowds were drawn to a wedding.  Incredible. Out came our flags to wave wave and cheer with the crowds.  I was very happy we saw the ceremony, and even though we didn't see the royals in real life we got to experience the atmosphere and festivities of the day.

When the ceremony finished we went for tea.  To end the day we walked outside the cafe and see the old spitfire in the fly by.

I feel so lucky I was able to be in London on this momentous day.

Love
