I'm amazed with the weather down here in Arizona, it's even better than I expected. With the sun shining today felt like a warm spring day, we were out in shorts and tee-shirts. I could tell the locals apart though, they were the ones dressed in pants and long sleeved shirts.
Our first full day was spent removing the rust from our golf swings at
Bougainvillea Golf Club. The course was a good choice to start with. It was a bit dry and is probably not one of the best courses around, but the fairways are decent size and it was perfect for our warm up round. We did pretty well too! Playing
best ball Tom and I scored 90, my parents beat us with an 81. There is room for improvement though, and I'm sure we will be dropping strokes in no time. I could tell towards the end of the round that my swing is definitely coming back.
For those not familiar with
best ball it's my favourite way to play golf. It's played in partners, so for an example: Tom and I are paired together. We both tee off, if Tom's shot is better than mine I move my ball up to his and hit from there, and vice versa. We play our balls like this all the way down the hole. It's great because it means when I have a bad shot Tom can usually save me with a better one. I'd say we were pretty even on saving each other today.
The mountains stood gorgeous in the distance as we went around the course and I'm starting to appreciate the beauty of the desert. We have five more days down here and I'm looking forward to improving my golf and hopefully starting to tan.
Love
