Hello 2011

We welcomed in the New Year with a day on the slopes.  It was ideal!

White Pass is a small ski resort only an hour from where I grew up.  Starting at the age of five I skied there nearly every weekend in the winter, well until I started snowboarding at fifteen.  In school we even had a ski bus that took us up on Saturdays.  This year the resort opened 767 new acres, doubling it in size.  I could not wait to explore the new terrain.

We awoke early on New Years day to sun shining in through the windows.  I knew it was going to be a good day.  After a quick breakfast of eggs on toast the boys and I piled into the car and made our way up the mountain.

The temperature was only 4 degrees Fahrenheit when we arrived.  We were a bit tentative about the cold, but we added a few more layers of clothes and up the slopes we went.

It was a glorious day!  I can not imagine a more perfect way to spend New Years day.  I don' have words to accurately describe the beauty of the day.  Mount Rainier stood proudly in the distance with fields of snow covered trees surrounding.  With the sun shining we quickly became warm as we raced up and down the slopes all day.

A huge mistake was forgetting the camera.  I was devastated when I realised we were unable to capture the day.  There is always next time.

Love
